Looks like the German Preschool is not going to work out this semester. Too few children. Since we have the Rose Bowl Aquatics Center here and The Bear loves the water, we’ll use her earmarked tuition for more swim lessons. Lemonade out of Lemons!

Was lead to a new, hip hangout in Pasadena. Intellegencia Coffee. It’s open late. The coffee is AMAZING and they do latte art. And make a mean Croissant Bread Pudding.

Speaking of Sugar. My sugar cut back really has been going well. I have found the joy in drinking coffee black or with a splash of cream (but it can’t be crap coffee.) My candy cravings have decreased significantly and I just over all feel better. I’d like to tackle gluten next but I like oatmeal. And receiving the Body of Christ. (I guess even the gluten-free Hosts have to have a small amount of wheat to be valid hosts?) :(

Pasadena Half-Marathon is 4 months away. Miles logged? 0.

I need to just plan my running into my day. No more excuses.

Let’s play “Justified or Not?” Last night, my feelings were hurt because DH reminded me AGAIN, that I need to remind him/ inform him if I have something going on in the evenings. We have a huge wall calendar and our iCals are synced, so I felt hurt because it seemed as if my plans were so not important for him to even look at. Of course, that was not the real message. All he was asking was that I remind him of stuff because there is a lot that goes on in his day. Oh, the joys of being the home manager.

Tomorrow is my first big Junior League volunteer event. I am going to be reading to a group of moms and kids! Then singing fun songs, then playing with a flannel graph and then a craft!!! Yes, I am excited about this!

The midwife ordered me to eat less sugar, along with low fat that I already have to do. Gah, I don’t even know what to eat anymore.
If I ever make it to Pasedena, I would love to meet up with you at that coffee place, sounds nice
Oh, it was lovely. Rough wood tables, industrial interior design, fantastic coffee…
Just saying, I’d love to run a half marathon (even if it’s not a real one, just being able to run 13 miles) so if you want somebody to be accountable to, and who’d be accountable to you, I’m down for partnering up.
I’ve done full marathons before and while I liked them, I think the 13.1 mile distance is a bit more palatable. Partnering up might not be a bad idea!
A full marathon? Impressive! I rowed in college, and while I’m good at mindless cog-in-the-machine, zen-like athleticism, the psychological stamina required for running anything over 5 k is something I’m still struggling to achieve. Maybe being accountable to somebody who knows what the heck they’re doing will let my pride trick me into actually working
.
My roommate rowed in college. I tried out, but I just wasn’t strong enough… plus I was a good 30 lbs overweight and not in good shape. I’ve done 2 marathons, 3 weeks apart, as the training regimen I used included a 26.2 mile “training run.” It really wasn’t bad. The worst part, for me, were the ice baths after long runs. What state are you in again?
I thought oats were gluten free!
I’m not sure. Admittedly I haven’t done research on what is and what is not gluten free. I know rice is. If oats are, then I feel little bit better. Like to start my day with Steel Cut Oats!
Oats technically are gluten free, though they are grown often in close proximity to wheat, and are harvested together, which means that trace amounts of wheat and therefore gluten are found in oats. For this reason, those people with gluten sensitivity have to be careful about what brand they buy, so that they know it was not grown or harvested with wheat. My sister-in-law is gluten sensitive and when we found out I did a little bit of research.
Thanks for the great info! That’s great to know for those who avoid gluten because of severe reactions!
When my sister was visiting, we almost took a day trip up to Pasadena but I’ve never been there and couldn’t decide what to do. When I finally make the trip, now I know where to get a coffee!
Yay!! Drop me a line and we could dish over a latte!
