Yesterday was Day 1 of the girls and me following a set schedule for the day. And let me tell you…
It was Magical.
I spent Sunday evening making up a chore chart for each of the girls. And yes, that it a picture of the chart below because for the life of me, I couldn’t figure out how to just imbed the image of the doc in my blog. Mad Skillz, I tell you.

I made the chart using Word by creating a table and just inserting clip art images found online. The chart is actually 2 pages, as it has their daily and weekly chores listed. It may seem like over-kill but most of the things listed are really just part of the morning routine.
Anyway…
The girls loved checking off their duties and once we finished morning chores, we headed out. Monday is our new library day, but before we could go there, Mama had a prenatal appt (Turkey sounds great, BTW.)
Yesterday, Anne @ Modern Mrs. Darcy posted a great piece about filling your home with great content. (Read the post here.) Taking that to heart, Brigid picked out a book of Dinosaur Poetry, The Little House in the Big Woods (for me to read to her) and a book about Magellan. Lucia (with help) picked out Curious George, A Ballet A to Z book and a picture book about Fashion trends through the ages. No influence there, right?
After naps, the girls had to do their 15 minutes of “reading”(looking at their books, unassisted) and then we worked on our handouts. Last week, after discovering my new favorite store, I picked up a few Summer enrichment books to keep the girls sharp. Brigid does 2 pages a day and with Lucia, we try to get through 1 coloring page. While dinner was cooking, we all folded the laundry that was washed that day.
By the time all of that was said and done, it was 5:45p (the girls nap until around 4p) and daddy was walking through the door… and the TV was off all day.
This leads me to the Caffeinated Catholic Mama Postulate for the Summer:
Staying scheduled and busy means less down time leading to fewer cries of “Can we watch a program?” Plus, it keeps Mama from her biggest time suck… FaceBook.

Love it!
Also, I am loving that chore chart! I do something similar for my bigger kids, but need one with clip art for my 4year old. Great idea!
The clip art works well. We sat down together yesterday AM and I asked the girls what each picture was (to be sure it was clear) and they got it!
