Illness has struck the CCM household! I know it sounds dramatic, but aside from a few sniffles from me or hubs (not counting pregnancy related nausea) we have been relatively healthy here for the last… 4 years? Even when the Bear was diagnosed with shingles, she was fine. Until yesterday morning… BAM. 104 degree fever (via ear thermometer; 101 via underarm,) sore throat, sick baby Bear.

We’re heading into the home stretch with the gestation of Turkey! It’s kind of crazy to think that in 2-4 weeks (more or less) we’ll have a sweet smelling newborn again!

I need to find doll arms for part of a Halloween costume and it’s proving to be more challenging than I thought. Hubs had the great idea to just buy a baby doll from the store and amputate the arms. I don’t know why, but that thought just makes me sad! And what to do with the armless baby doll then?! (Honestly, the Dragonfly is such a baby doll lover that she would find no fault with an armless baby and love it to death.)

Last week we had a nice repreve from the heat. We had 2 glorious days of 60 degree weather. I had to giggle a bit at the native Californians bundled up (and I am not kidding.) But then the weather came back with a vengence. 100+ degrees earlier this week. Ugh.

I missed recording the latest Presidential Debate this week. It started at 6p here so I figured it was recording and I’d just watch it after the girls were in bed. Yeah, no. But I did learn one thing: Don’t count on your Facebook feed for debate recap. 50% of the posts were pro-Obama; 50% pro-Romney and 100% talked about how they are both liars. Hahaha!

Watching the debate was just going to be a bit of fun because I voted by mail last week.

A couple of my CathSorority Sisters are working on a new blog project and it would be awesome if you wanted to play along! It’s called “What I wore Sunday” and will consist of user submitted pics of their Sunday Mass/ Church Outfits. The thought is to give each other some new inspiration for Sunday outfits!

I ran far, far, far away from the debate. I’m a strong avoider of conflict
Hope you all get well soon!
I had already voted by mail so I spent the debate being righteously indignant that they had pre-empted NCIS. It was positively un-American of them!
I also have a Bear. When Daniel was in the NICU, we read the Little Bear books to him so he became Little Bear. He was a cublet until he got his front teeth, a bearlet until he learned to walk, and now is a full-grown (at 3.5) bear. His Halloween costume for this year is a bear one that I found at Target.
And seriously, southern Californians are weird about cold. They’d come up to northern California to go to college and we’d just laugh at them because they’d be walking around in parkas in 60F weather.
“parkas in 60F weather” while everyone else is in shorts, right? That’s how Wisconsin was… 60F… heat wave.
How exciting to be so close to meeting your new baby! I love the newborn smell. I always say when they are born they smell like the angels in heaven. At baptism, with the chrism on their little heads, I think they must smell like the saints in heaven.
Love the chrism smell!! I just want to bottle it up!
