Thrifting Treasure Hunters

I am late getting into the world of thrift shops. Part of it is that we spent a lot of time in thrift stores as a kid and I was having a hard time shaking the sigma of shopping at thrift stores. I’ve been donating to thrift stores for as long as I have been a responsible adult, but shopping? No, No, No.

Dude. I have been missing out.

Shopping at thrift stores is like treasure hunting and I have found a bit of treasure I’ve been looking for!

OK, most of you know that I’ve been hunting for vinyl doll arms for a Halloween costume. I’ve searched online, offline, craft stores, everywhere. The ones that I have found have been in the range of $24-40 for the arms. (Uh, no.) So, the decision was made to buy a doll and ampuatate the arms. Sounds easy enough, but the non-thrift store shopping frugalista in me had a hard time fathoming buying a doll to them turn around and hack the arms off.

Enter the thrift store where I found… her.
Chatty Cathy

Hello, 2.5 feet of creepy, scary, naked dolly goodness… for $1.99

The best part is that her limbs are huge!! Which will make for the perfect halloween costume for this mama! Needless to say, I’ve caught the thrifting bug and came home with a few other items from my hunt… including a leather blazer for $10!

As far as the costume goes, do you want to see what it is?

Sorry! No peeksies before Halloween!
